Wildlife Trapping Prep Guide
How to Prepare for Wildlife Trapping Service
Wildlife trapping requires cooperation between you and your technician for the duration of the monitoring period. These steps keep your household safe and help the trapping work as intended.
1. Secure All Pets
Keep all pets indoors for the duration of the trap monitoring period. When dogs go outside near trap areas, keep them leashed and supervised.
Cats, small dogs, and free-roaming pets are at risk of interacting with traps. Indoor containment is the safest approach.
2. Do Not Touch, Move, or Reset Traps
Once traps are placed, do not touch, move, adjust, or reset them. Trap placement is deliberate — moving a trap even a few inches can make it ineffective.
If a trap is accidentally disturbed, contact us so the technician can reposition it.
3. Keep Children Away from Trap Areas
Trap placement areas are not safe for unsupervised children. Make sure everyone in the household knows where traps are located and understands not to approach them.
4. If an Animal Is Caught
Call Waves immediately. Do not approach, handle, or attempt to release a caught animal. Wildlife can carry diseases and may bite or scratch when stressed.
Your technician will handle removal safely and in compliance with Florida regulations.
Daily Trap Checks
Florida regulations require trap checks at least every 24 hours. Your technician will monitor the traps on schedule. If you notice a caught animal between scheduled checks, call us right away — don’t wait for the next check.
What to Expect
- Trapping timelines depend on the target animal and activity level. Some catches happen within 24 hours; others take several days.
- Your technician may adjust trap placement, bait, or approach based on results between checks.
- Once the target animal is removed, your technician will discuss exclusion options to prevent re-entry.
