Mosquito Service Prep Guide

How to Prepare for Mosquito Service

Mosquito treatments target the shaded, damp areas where mosquitoes rest and breed. Clearing access and reducing standing water helps the treatment cover the areas that matter most.

1. Unlock Gates and Clear Yard Access

Make sure the technician can reach the full yard — front, back, sides, lanai, and any shaded or low areas near fences, hedges, and tree lines. Unlock gates and clear pathways.

2. Empty Standing Water

Dump standing water from buckets, toys, plant saucers, tarps, bird baths, wheelbarrows, and any other small containers. Even a bottle cap of water can support mosquito larvae.

Standing water that can’t be dumped (ponds, fountains, rain barrels) should be noted for the technician — they may apply larvicide or recommend a solution.

3. Move Pet Items Inside

Bring pet bowls, toys, and outdoor pet beds inside or move them away from treatment areas before service.

4. Stay Off Treated Areas Until Dry

After treatment, keep people and pets off treated foliage and surfaces until the product dries — typically 30–60 minutes. Your technician will confirm timing.

What to Expect

  • Mosquito treatment targets resting sites (undersides of leaves, shrubs, shaded structures) — not open lawn areas.
  • Results are noticeable within hours. A significant reduction in mosquito activity is typical within 24–48 hours.
  • Recurring mosquito service provides the best results. A single treatment reduces the current population, but mosquitoes repopulate from surrounding areas over time.

Drainage or Water Concerns?

If you have a pond, fountain, pool issue, or persistent drainage problem, let us know before the visit. These are often the primary mosquito breeding sources on the property.

Mosquito Service Prep FAQs

Do I need to be home for mosquito service?

You usually do not need to be home as long as gates are unlocked and the technician can access the yard, lanai, and treatment areas.

How long should people and pets stay off treated areas?

Stay off treated foliage and surfaces until dry, typically 30 to 60 minutes. Your technician will confirm timing after service.

Should I empty standing water before mosquito treatment?

Yes. Dumping buckets, plant saucers, toys, tarps, and other small water sources helps reduce breeding sites before treatment.
