Lawn Treatment Prep Guide
How to Prepare for Lawn Treatment
A few simple steps before your lawn treatment help the technician apply product evenly and give the treatment the best chance to work.
1. Mow Before Service (Not After)
If mowing is due, mow at least 24 hours before service when possible. This gives the grass time to recover before treatment is applied.
Do not mow immediately after treatment unless your technician gives different instructions. Mowing too soon can remove product from the leaf surface before it absorbs.
2. Unlock Gates and Clear the Lawn
Open gates and move toys, hoses, furniture, pet waste, and yard debris off the lawn before the visit. The technician needs to walk the entire turf area to apply product evenly.
3. Manage Irrigation
Keep irrigation off before and after treatment unless your technician leaves specific watering instructions. Some treatments need time to dry on the leaf; others need to be watered in.
Your technician will leave instructions for your specific treatment — follow those over any general advice.
4. Keep Pets and Children Off Until Dry
After treatment, keep people and pets off the lawn until the product is dry — typically 1–2 hours in Florida sun. Your technician will confirm timing.
What to Expect
- Weed control results take 7–14 days to become visible. Broadleaf weeds yellow and curl before dying.
- Fertilizer results appear over 2–4 weeks as the turf greens up and fills in.
- Some lawn treatments may cause temporary yellowing of certain weed species — this is the product working.
