Termite Treatment Prep Guide

How to Prepare for Termite Treatment

Termite treatment requires clear access to walls, foundation edges, and structural areas. The prep is straightforward — the technician needs room to work safely and thoroughly.

1. Move Stored Items Away from Walls

Clear items away from walls, garage edges, attic access points, crawlspace entries, and any treatment areas identified by your technician. Move boxes, furniture, and stored goods at least 2–3 feet from perimeter walls.

For liquid perimeter treatments and trenching, the technician needs access to the foundation line — indoors and out.

2. Unlock All Access Points

Make sure gates, garages, utility rooms, attic hatches, and crawlspace entries are accessible. If the technician can’t reach an area, it can’t be treated.

3. Keep People and Pets Away During Treatment

Keep people and pets away from active treatment areas until the technician confirms it is safe to return. For liquid treatments, the treated soil or surfaces need time to dry and settle.

4. Clear the Exterior Perimeter

Move planters, firewood, mulch bags, yard debris, and decorative items away from the foundation. The technician may need to trench, drill, or apply product along the entire structure perimeter.

For Pre-Construction Treatments

If this is a pre-treatment (new construction slab treatment), make sure the job site is accessible and ready for the treatment stage scheduled. Coordinate with your builder or general contractor on timing.

What to Expect

  • Liquid perimeter treatments involve trenching along the foundation and applying termiticide to the soil. The trench is backfilled after treatment.
  • Bait station installations involve placing monitoring stations around the structure perimeter. These are checked on a regular schedule.
  • Spot treatments target specific areas of activity with localized product application.

Your technician will explain which method is being used and any specific post-treatment instructions.
