Termite Bond – What You Need to Know
Last Updated: September 7, 2026 4 min read

A termite bond is commonly used to describe a termite service contract or warranty. The written agreement determines the coverage. Treatment, monitoring, and a renewable warranty are separate things to check when evaluating an offer.

Treatment and warranty answer different questions

Treatment describes the work performed. A warranty describes the company’s obligations under stated conditions. An inspection documents findings at a particular time; it does not, by itself, establish a continuing service agreement.

ItemQuestion it should answer
InspectionWhat was inspected and what was observed?
TreatmentWhich pest and areas will the work address?
MonitoringWhat checks are scheduled and what happens if activity is found?
WarrantyWhat obligations, exclusions, and renewal conditions apply?

Read the coverage before relying on the name

FDACS distinguishes retreatment-only coverage from retreatment-and-repair coverage and treatments without a warranty. These terms have materially different meanings. Do not infer repair coverage from the word bond. Read the actual agreement and ask about exclusions. FDACS homeowner contract guide

What should you compare before renewing or switching?

Ask for the covered organisms, property and structures, service schedule, renewal conditions, transfer terms, and cancellation terms. Keep the proposal next to your current agreement and mark anything that differs or is not stated.

For a bait system, also ask who owns the stations, what maintenance is included, and what happens to the equipment if service ends. Our bait station ownership guide provides those comparison questions without assuming every program uses the same contract.

Keep the documents and the decisions together

When reviewing a renewal, start with the agreement you already have and the proposed renewal terms. Mark which obligations continue, which charges or conditions change, and which questions require a written answer. A reminder letter or a station photograph is not a substitute for that comparison.

If you are evaluating an offer during a property purchase, keep the inspection document separate from any treatment recommendation or continuing service agreement. Ask who is responsible for each decision and whether the proposed coverage applies to the property and structures you intend to include. An existing agreement may raise transfer questions that a new-treatment price does not answer.

You do not need to infer every term yourself. A useful provider response points to the relevant section of the agreement and explains how it applies to the proposal. Keep that explanation with the documents you use to make the decision.

Common questions

Does Waves include a bond with every treatment?

No. Do not treat a termite treatment quote as a promise of included bond coverage. Any optional, annually renewable termite warranty must be described in the specific offer and agreement. Ask for those terms when reviewing the proposed service.

Where should you start if you have seen possible termite activity?

Use the subterranean termite profile to compare visible signs, and record where and when you saw them on the observation checklist. Identification and the property assessment come before deciding on a treatment or warranty.

For price questions, read what affects termite treatment cost and use the calculator for current options. Keep the proposed treatment and any optional coverage distinct when comparing quotes.
